Summer is so short here in Alaska and when its over, fall sets in quickly. We are always amazed at how fast the days disappear with darkness creeping in 5-7 minutes more each day. When we came back from our TN trip we saw the first few stars in the night sky. The first stars we've seen since May (except for the ones in TN). At the laundry mat last night we even heard reports of the first northern lights sightings. And, with the stars and nighttime light shows comes colors on the ground. The first fall colors are appearing with yellow birch and aspen leaves, red fireweed foliage, yellow willows leaves, orange dwarf birch, red bear berry, and even a few red blueberry bushes. Even in the past few days at home we have noticed more and more fall color coming around.
