We had a friendly visit from a very large neighbor today. Andrew and I were in the process of carrying a couple of spruce poles that he cut down in the backyard to the frontyard when a cow moose stepped out in front of us. We immediately looked around for a calf because that's what time of year it is, but didn't see one so we grabbed the camera for a quick snapshot. A mama moose with a calf is about the most dangerous thing around right now (we did see a cow with calf at our nearest neighbors house about a week ago). This just reminds us to look both ways when we exit the cabin.
